You may work for eight hours, but not for seven days a week. Most people don’t spend eight hours in the kitchen, either.

Not only that, but many bedrooms still have huge old-fashioned clunky wardrobes to keep clothes in, chests of drawers which take up a lot of space, a dressing table, and so on, and that’s before the bed.

Fair enough, many people like a big double bed so there is not a lot that can be done about that, although some can be fitted into the wall and swung down as required. But you can also modernise the bedroom with wardrobes and cabinets that fit into the wall and provide you with a lot more space in the room.
